WORKS,_Twin_girls_%282003%29.html

This piece was made to be part of the exhibition Flaschengeist in MUSAC in León. In this project I considered creating a global image of the world using a symbol for it: a fairground.

This piece was located at the entrance of the space. The basic idea was to create the image of a soldier. An "authority figure", a "public order" symbol.

If one thing is clear, is that the meaning of uniforms is creating this sense of authority and control in the people.

But, for the work, I've used for it a real person (Toño) who is someone totally anarchic and chaotic, and the suit seems a military uniform, but it is not. It's actually a costume for Mexican town band musician.

With all these elements together, I want to play with the appearance of what we see and how we see is only a mental image. Here, the "soldier" is an absurd being, small, with a grotesque feet, wearing a local musician uniform who is dirty and unkempt. However some blood stains appear. What adds more shock and surprise. Perhaps it is to be violent. But maybe due to his size is not too dangerous. I intend to be very ambiguous and leave a very important part of the interpretation to the spectator.

Polyurethane, latex, fabrics, oil and hair.
